So I’ve taken money I probably shouldn’t have used and purchased myself a birthday present. It’ll finally arrive by my birthday at least. (4 weeks!!! DX<) Only downside, was that I could only find it shipping from the UK or Japan. So I’m hoping the next 4 weeks goes by pretty fast. :) Anyway, I’m pretty sure my current watercolors have gone bad, or expired. They’re a few years old, and in the first few years I had them I didn’t use them very often. They’re also not super expensive watercolors… so yeah. Anyway, when I use them now, they do this weird separation thing of the pigments. Not into the grooves of the paper like some watercolors are supposed to, no this is weird, and only happens when a decent amount of the pigment is on the paper. Mixing with water helps, but I have to really water down the pigment to make the grainy separation go away. Here’s a pic of that last commission showing the separation issue. Weird, right? I’ve done all kinds of troubleshooting to try and figure it out, but all I’ve come up with is that they’re probably expired and I need new ones. So yes, I figured if I’m buying new ones, I’m gonna buy the ones I really want, and went with the giant W&N Studio set of all the colors. :D I’ll post here some pretty pictures once I get em.
