I've been debating for a while now whether to move away from tumblr or not. Don't get me wrong, I love the tumblr community. Very much so. I just wanted more out of my website than a blog. I wanted my brand and information to be more prominent than the blog itself. So I've switched to squarespace. With tumblr, I felt pressured to post an update every day or so. I was sacrificing quality for quantity, and I really don't want to do that anymore. So from now on, my blog posts will consist of finished projects and professional photos. I'm still going to be posting a lot of WIP and behind the scenes pictures and information, but those will now be on my Instagram Stories. Feel free to follow me on Instagram to see those. They disappear after 24 hours, but no one really wants those types of pictures to hang around though, do we? I was looking back at some of my tumblr posts from two years ago, wondering why I ever posted them. Unfinished, work in progress shots that were not photographed professionally and edited quickly, and in reality- I wasn't sure my audience even cared about them. A few did, and while I'm grateful, I feel that InstaStories are a better fit for pictures and updates like those, while my blog will be a better fit for finished projects and gorgeous photos.
So this is my new website. I'm focusing on my calligraphy and invitation services. I'll still be posting blog entries, but with better content and a little less frequently. But fear not, the geek is not disappearing. While I'm focusing more on the wedding industry bit of things, there's a real need out there for luxury geek stationery. That's where I come in. Look forward to lots of geek wedding invitations and reception pieces.
